The exhibition, "Feeling and Meaning" running from December 2008 through June 2009, introduces a selection of art works created in a variety of different styles, techniques, textures and themes, by some of Israel's most important artists.
The exhibition was planned and carried out in collaboration with ALEH: The Society of Blind and Dyslexic Students in Israel and it offers audio guidance as well as Braille explanations.
Susan Nashman-Fraiman, a co-curator, says; "the idea for the exhibition was born out of teaching Art History. I saw how analyzing art works open new worlds for the students, and asked myself how this experience could be brought for the visually impaired and blind students as well". She says some museums across the world do allow touching art works, but in most cases this is done with reproductions, where the visitors to this exhibition are invited to touch the original work and learn it with their fingers.
